On Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 top - vocalist Tania Kross gave a unique concert as part of the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival 2012. During this concert she shared the stage with impressive talents such as Junior Tecla, Maruja Bogaard & Veanira Reed. But also Gilmar Freites, Eric Calmes and Randal Corsen performed.
Singer Tania Kross (Curaçao, 1976) belongs to one of the best mezzo-soprano of the Netherlands for years now. After her performances in Amsterdam, Paris, Salzburg, Vienna and New York, she is finally back on her own island to perform. Her unique and powerful voice brings many concert halls in turmoil.
Junior Tecla known for his hit 'kuid'e- flor’ is touring with his band through Europe. After all the festival performances, interviews and television shows, beautiful Curaçao is the perfect place to get new inspiration. The combination of his full soul-like voice and his huge dose of onstage performance makes each performance an experience.
Singing has been a big part of Maruja Bogaards life since she was three years old and is still her greatest passion. Widely praised for her beautiful soul voice. After her single releases and cooperation with DJ Tiesto she went back to her roots for her Latin American album Azuca, after which she mostly performed in America.
Veanira Reed is discovered in the gospel scène of Curacao. In addition to many performances, in the beginning of this year, she won The Golden Voice with her version of "Someone like you – Adele" and "Ain't got you-Alicia Keys". Next was winning the Un Kanto pa Kòrsou. Because of the mix of artists, she made sure that the concert has become a very successful and unique combination of opera, soul, funk, and jazz.
A band led by none other than Eric Calmes accompanied all the artists. The small-scale and warm feeling of the idyllic Octagon square at the Avila hotel created a fantastic combination.
