After the hilarious theater show ‘Alle Dagen’ comedian Richard Groenendijk came back to Curacao with a completely different show. At Saturday the 13th of July he played at Brakkeput Mei Mei.
Groenendijk (Dirksland, 1972) is a comedian. After his participation in the television series ‘Ranking the Stars’ from Paul de Leeuw, he became nationally know and nowadays he belongs to the top of the Dutch Comedians.
With his show ‘Alle Dagen’ he won the prestigious Poelifinario price within the Netherlands for most impressive performance of the season. ‘’Groenendijk knows how to give a universal spin to an intimate and personal show’’, said the jury. ‘’It looks like he is casually telling some anecdotes, but just below those funny stories are a lot more layers hidden.’’
Also the reviews about his new show ‘De mantel der liefde’ are full of praise: ‘Richard Groenendijk came, saw and conquered,’’ wrote the Telegraaf about this personal show in which he takes his own life as a starting point again. But this time he goes a step further. ‘’Groenendijk is venomous and sincere’’ says the NRC. Because not only the hilarious stories with family anecdotes, career depth and highlights and the many colorful characters the encounters in everyday life, pass the revenue. Effortlessly he combines the poignant was story of his friend Marko with a smile. He looks critically at the world and at where we are in life, from faith to our welfare state, and thereby never spares himself of his ‘’ego’. According to Trouw we see ‘’a sharper and a more committed Groenendijk’’ in a performance that according to the Parool ‘’is intensely witty, but also serious and with a warm heart’’.
Because of his fast pace and double jokes, Richard Groenendijk is disarming and above all a real comedian. Of course he could not sit still and he made a new hilarious show; Met de Mantel der Liefde.
At the time the show played in all theaters in the Netherlands but between shows Groenendijk made time to come to Curacao to make his audience roar with laughter again.
